Acts 1:8 (New Living Translation) But when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, you will receive power and will tell people about me everywhere—in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”
Glocal - "think global act local"
We believe this is the essence of “glocal” living. Jesus directed his followers on this particular day to be agents of total cultural transformation. He begins by telling them to do so in the most logical setting, right where they are. However, this gospel was not to be contained in their immediate proximity, but instead to move out in to the region where they lived and from there to the neighboring regions even laying aside all prejudices. Ultimately, the mission that Jesus left with his followers was to transform the world with the gospel.
The impact of the gospel which Jesus preached is not just on the unseen parts of our lives, but in very practical areas as well. This movement would cause the hungry to be fed; the orphans to be cared for; the sick to be treated; the uneducated to become educated; the imprisoned and lonely to find companionship; the lost to find their way and the hopeless to find hope and ultimately life. In that light we are taking quite seriously our responsibility to be glocal believers who bring transformation to our culture through many expressions of God’s work in us.
We are partnered around the world with ministries that focus on the work of meeting needs. Our involvement with the Christian and Missionary Alliance is certainly one way we are glocally involved. We are also developing satellite campuses internationally even as we begin here in the Triangle. We are joining with relief organizations for the cause of justice and service in war torn, aids infested areas of Africa. These are just a few of our global efforts.
We have not forgotten our local community in the process. We are committed to serving our community not just during seasons of generosity, but as an ongoing and constant habit. We are in the process of developing key partners who will help us “get our hands dirty” with local service.
Our commitment to a glocal lifestyle is an active commitment. We will not be content to sit and cheer as others do the work. Every person who calls Church at the Triangle family will be challenged and empowered to be physically involved in ongoing glocal ministries. You can get more information about how to be involved yourself by following the contacts that appear on these pages.
